Fertility Enhancing Laparoscopic surgery Laparoscopy for fibroids in Chennai, Best Laparoscopic Treatment Chennai
Laparoscopy prior to beginning treatment for infertility can help improve success rates of conceiving. Laparoscopy can help diagnose the 20% of individuals with unexplained infertility.
MRI / Ultrasound or sonohysterogram provide you with a relative diagnosis
(which greatly depends on the skill of the assessing doctor) but “seeing is believing!” Using diagnostic hystero-laparoscopy we are able to completely assess the tubes, ovaries and the uterus along with its relation to other organs in the body. We will be able to assess the uterine lining and patency of the tubes during the same procedure. The procedure takes only about half an hour and towards the end a definitive diagnosis can be arrived at. Another important aspect of hysteron-laparoscopy, it is therapeutic, i.e. any small abnormalities like uterine polyp, and small fibroids or adhesions can be dealt with during the same procedure. In other instances small tubal blocks can be released using tubal cannulation , this procedure is extremely useful in patients who have demonstrated bilateral tubal block by HSG.

A Hystero- laparoscopic tubal re cannulation is done to open up a block or relieve some other malfunction in the fallopian tube.A small block can be relieved this way .
What happens during the procedure?
Under general anaesthesia ,a telescope is passed into the abdomen to visualise the uterus and fallopian tubes. Using normal saline , the uterine cavity is distended and a thin tube is passed directly into the fallopian tube , a dye (methylene blue) is directly infused thus helping relieve the block.
Alternatively a block towards the fimbrial end can be relieved during the same procedure using a tube passed via the fimbrial end.
The procedure is done for patients who have already undergone permanent sterilization by tubal ligation. In such a situation a TubalRecanalisation / Reversal procedure to “re-cannulate” the fallopian tube to allow the free movement of eggs through the fallopian tube is done.
What happens during the procedure?
Under general anaesthesia, a scope is introduced into the abdomen. Using specialised 3mm (per-cutaneous) micro-surgical instruments the block is excised and the cut ends of the fallopian tubes are sutured back together. This procedure requires extreme skill in laparoscopic techniques and requires highly specialised instruments.
Endometriosis is the presence of endometrial tissue outside the uterus. Endometriosis is associated with the release of excess inflammatory cells, which is responsible for the excessive pain during menstruation. This is also responsible for the tubo-ovarian adhesions, which in turn is responsible for infertility. Several studies have shown a significant increase in pregnancy rates after surgical treatment.
A reasonable amount of adhesiolysis and restoring tubo-ovarian anatomy while dealing with the ovarian endometrioma greatly enhances fertility in patients.
Although the exact relationship of adenomyosis and infertility have not been established, there is documented evidence that surgery for adenomyosis may improve chances of fertility.
